Building Smoking Policy
Please be advised that in compliance with the State of California’s labor code, (CLC 6404.5), as well as the City of San Francisco’s health code, (Article 19F), smoking ordinance, Boston Properties and the Embarcadero Center buildings are all non-smoking buildings. Persons wishing to smoke may do so only in designated areas outside of the buildings covered areas and away from any points of entry, operable windows and intake vents, (with a minimum distance of 25 feet from any of the above areas). Boston Properties has posted signs throughout the common areas outside the buildings where smoking is strictly prohibited, for the purpose of controlling infiltration of smoking byproducts into the building.
Please note, as per SF Health Code Article 19N.4: Prohibiting the Use of Electronic Cigarettes Wherever Smoking of Tobacco Products is banned; the use of electronic cigarettes is prohibited wherever smoking of tobacco products is prohibited by law including Articles 19 et seq. of the Health Code. The definition of Electronic Cigarette or “E-cigarette” means any device with a heating element, a battery, or an electronic circuit that provides nicotine or other vaporized liquids to the user in a manner that simulates smoking tobacco.
